Question by JL: Why won’t my Windows 7 gadgets load on the desktop when I turn computer on?
When I power the computer on, Win 7 loads my desktop settings, but it won’t load the gadgets. To get my gadgets to appear, I have to right click and select “Gadgets” to get them to appear. In doing so, it opens the gadgets window and I have to keep closing it. I just want my Win7 gadgets to automatically load when I start the computer. How can I get them to do so?

for the notes gadget you should be able to get it from anyone who has vista, if no either no one uploads it or you cant find it ill install vista on a VM and ill extract from there,
as for the other question about not loading at startup have you checked your msconfig and checked that sidebar is checked
all you have to do to check is to do that is press start and type the search program and files box msconfig and enter..
check on the startup tab and see if the sidebar is checked…
it should be called the entry : “Microsoft Operating System”
there should be two as one will be media center and the other is the sidebar….

I have Windows Vista, and I just got my computer back from Geek Squad (they broke and replaced my hard drive). When I turned my laptop on, on the right hand side of my desktop, there was a vertical line of “gadgets.” I had a clock, a slideshow, news headlines, etc. Then I changed my background picture and the gadgets disappeared =( How do I get them back????

President proposes cutting border patrol
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama’s proposed 2011 budget would cut the border patrol by 180 agents and trim spending on a “virtual fence” along the nation’s Southwest border.
Homeland security officials confirmed the proposed cuts Monday during a budget briefing for reporters. They said no border patrol agents would lose their jobs. Instead, the positions would be cut through attrition as agents retire or leave.
Remaining agents would be better paid as part of a plan to increase the salaries of experienced frontline officers.
Senior Obama administration officials said they do not expect the proposed cuts to reduce the effectiveness of the border patrol, which has doubled in size during the past five years to more than 20,000 agents.
The reduction is part of an effort by the White House to trim the federal budget, but it is expected to meet resistance from Congress, which must approve the budget, in an election year.
The president’s proposed budget also would slash funding by nearly 6 million for an electronic “virtual fence” system along the border. The virtual fence, known as “SBInet,” is made up of cameras, radar and sensors placed on towers.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano last month ordered a reassessment of the billion program after continuing delays in constructing the system near the Arizona border with Mexico.
While cutting some border programs, the administration is seeking an additional million to create Border Enforcement Security Task Forces in Honolulu, San Francisco, and Massena, N.Y. These multi-agency teams work to identify and stop criminal organizations that transport drugs and other contraband across U.S. borders.
The administration also is seeking more than 3 million to improve the Internet-based E-Verify system that allows employers to check whether job applicants are in the United States legally and are eligible to work. The goal is to improve fraud detection and make the system easier and more reliable to use, homeland security officials said.

The Entire Family Loves Our New Home Theater!
Flick weekends are a big deal in our house. Almost every Friday we hop in the mini van and drive to Blockbuster to get two or three movies. Then we drive over to Papa John to get a couple pies.
We have everything we need for a long night of comfy film watching at home. I have always cherished movies and it has been great to share this love with my family. They now have the same love for movies as I do and it’s the best way to spend quality time with each other after a long week of work.
Since movies are my desire, I had to stay up on the subject of surround sound and high definition TV. As soon as manufacturers came out with their newest surround sound systems, I was at Ultimate Electronics buying it.
It took me forever to get that system up in my basement but let me affirm you, the sound will blow you away. Everyone jumps when we are watching a horror flick (our favorite). When high definition came out, I researched all about it and was so stimulated about getting it.

Electronic Gadgets Famous to Teens
I know from experience that my teen wants every electronic gadget that is out there. There are so many to chose from and they are so similar even. There are just different makers and they look slightly different. One popular gadget is the iPod, this being popular with teens, adults, children, everyone. My daughter has been begging for one of these, this also being one of the more expensive gadgets to buy and the one that I would be most upset about if she lost! The iPod being great though because of the capability to load tons of music onto it and take it everywhere. But again, the easiest one to be lost or stolen.
Another gadget that teens want are cell phones, I’ve already given in and bought one for my daughter. She now wants one that takes pictures and has Internet capabilities. I have not gone that far yet, however having a cell phone is the ideal teen item. All teens want one and so many already have one even. The pricing plans vary and my daughter so far has stayed within her minutes. We added her to our family talk plan, so the increased cost wasn’t too much, compared to getting a completely separate line. The phone a lot of times can be received for free through your cell phone provider to further cut the cost of getting your teen a cell phone. All teens want and I think parents too, is the Nintendo DS and the Game-boy Advance.
